Strawmen: “Intellectual honesty” has nothing to do with this video, and you should retitle it “standard theist crap”.

Europeans are not *CONVERTING* to Islam, they are allowing people who already believe in Islam to immigrate and raise Muslim families.

“The enlightenment” is just the Christian/secular name for the continuation of *ISLAMIC SCIENCE* (which itself is a continuation of Greek naturalism.)

You have no standing to attempt to talk to “intellectually honest atheists”.

  • PostITnoteGUY says:

This is the first time I’ve ever heard bigotry towards Europeans. It’s usually against races or nationalities or something but not continents.

    You’re a fucking idiot.

  • lordaltay5 says:

Great video sir. As an atheist and US citizen I view all religion as dangerous but obviously there is a sliding scale involved.

It is mainly due to the protestant reformation that I, as the son of Turkish immigrants, am Free here in the 21st century. Agnostics, Atheists, non-religious, etc should all form an alliance of convenience with Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and other religions to combat political Islam with a United Front.

  • ostrichspeed says:

Nazi Germany and fascist Italy were state capitalist, it’s scary that something this self-evident is up for debate. “Hitler nationalized this and that (while leaving lots of other things privatized)” and “Mussolini professed admiration of some leftists in his earlier days” are blatant red herrings.

  • ostrichspeed says:

“Fascism = left wing” is a nonsense talking point. Fascism RELIES on class collaboration (i.e. a quasi-feudal idea that every man has his heirarchical position in the nation-state, and that we shouldn’t question our place) in contrast to the upsetting of class relations advocated by socialism.

  • lyntonio says:

what is needed is PASSIONATE atheism. sadly a bag daddy in the sky strikes the passions more than an arrogant scientist that says he has all the answers and you will not live on after death.

  • adzug says:

science says extrordinary claims must be supported by extrordinary proof. science doesnt recognise super nature cuz theres no way to test or prove it. were there, itd be probably in the natural system

  • Locriology says:

Western culture has progressed beyond that of Islamic culture. The differences in freedoms have nothing to do with religion. If you meet Muslims who grew up in Western society, they are no different from Christians except by belief system.

  • utubephobe says:

To assume that Islam is a greater threat to freedom and rationalism, you would have to ignore the fact that the many in the U.S. firmly believe it’s a Christian nation founded on Christian ideals, yet are irrational and restrict rights. Also, ignore that we’ve got the largest military in the world. To name just a few of the fallacies, this makes Islam a straw man, gives special pleading for Christianity, and calls Christianity and Enlightenment values a package deal. Red herrings abound.

  • FightTheGoodFightUSA says:

I am not saying i “Know” what started it all.

I am saying to say “there is no Creator” is a stupid pointless statement with no backing.
I understood what you wrote so stop trying to act like a genius, But you are missing one huge fact i pointed out….i posted on this a wile ago, so its old. Send me a message if you would like to talk ^_^

  • ionz75 says:

I make 3 valid points in my comment in direct response to your statement, and you call them “a pointless waste of time.” I think you’re copping out because either you couldn’t understand them or are incapable of refuting them.

BTW, neither of us really knows what started it all, I’m just the only one that admits it. Your assertion that it was God is no better than a wild guess until you can provide some evidence that your particular idea of creator is correct.

  • FightTheGoodFightUSA says:

Buddy i really don’t care about your opinion.

If you read the comment & couldn’t comprehend it go to school. Your reply is a pointless waste of time.

BTW, An infinite number of possibilities but the question still stands…..how did it start? You simply cannot answer & once again “Nothing begets nothing”

  • ionz75 says:

Your comment is full of ignorance. Science has nothing to say about the supernatural, it is true that the universe had to come from somewhere, but that doesn’t give you the right to arbitrarily state that your God is the creator, from our perspective, there are literally an infinite number of possible first causes. Furthermore, a “true atheist” is simply someone who doesn’t believe in God, that certainly isn’t enough information to predict their actions.

  • kimberlily1983 says:

All religions cause varying degrees of harm, and some have taken their turn being the worst one at a given time. Right now, most people are of the opinion that Islam is the one posing the most threat. Maybe as such it is the one that deserves to be addressed the most.

I think the reason we see Christianity being criticized as much or perhaps more than Islam is that it’s the one that most people in the West have experienced first-hand and been harmed by; that’s certainly the case for me.

  • kimberlily1983 says:

I think it would be better to still use the word ‘atheist’ but to explain that you’re not a leftist; otherwise you allow those misconceptions to continue perpetuating themselves.

The other problem is assuming that all leftists believe in political correctness. I’m all for multiculturalism, but not when it involves denying human rights, such as free speech, gender equality, etc.

  • threeblackcrows says:

Human rights seem to have been fostered in the climate of the abuse of such rights by religion which is a perverted form of control. I would rather start with a clean slate and have no religion than subscribe to the lesser of all the evils…the complicity or support of the catholic church to various things throughout history as well as Islamic doctrines support for all manner of things is evil to me….it’s a pity the coptics lost out to the literalists

  • OccidentalSoapbox says:

Absolutely not. I know that not all atheists are liberal/pc because I am not liberal/pc. I used to identify as an ‘atheist’; now I do not precisely BECAUSE people automatically assume you are a leftist. Also because while I don’t believe in any religion I oppose those who see all religions as equally and inherently evil. My contention in this video is that Western atheists have much more in common with modern Western Christians than they do with Muslims, and can stand together on many issues.

  • TheAtheistNeophyte says:

One big problem I have with this video is that soapbox seems to think that everyone who is an atheist is liberal and wants a politically correct government. I despise political correctness and I think it weakens us as a nation. If you think I’ve said something incorrect feel free to respond.

  • SuperCat1187 says:

Well I highly doubt Atheists can be blamed for Islamic intrusions on individual rights. You can’t blame someone for the actions of someone else.

Of course your right on one thing though. Christians and Atheists should put aside their differences and fight for human rights while maintaining a secular unbiased government.

  • BMS1974 says:

Dude, you need to learn your history of the middle-east and Asia, your closing statements about ‘enlightened’ belief systems only occuring in the west is way of the mark. Also, I take it that you assume the Christian God(yahew or whatever label you personally ascribe)to be the one true God, and Islam to be a ‘false’ religion.

  • AaronBurhoe says:

The disproof of God is not a matter of fact, but rather probability. The probability of the “big bang” theory, that all matter was originally dispersed from the singularity of a universal black hole, is far better substantiated then the idea that it was all some magical “sky-daddy.” The theory does not assume that matter came from nothing.

You say that “in scientific terms God has to be real,” but you don’t substantiate it.

    And I’m not a Muslim.

  • FightTheGoodFightUSA says:

Your forgetting the FACT you have no proof god doesn’t exist.

Atheism is NOT fact but rather mans opinion of what really is, In Scientific terms God has to be real.

“Nothing begets nothing” So you saying god isn’t real simply puts you in a sort of contradicting paradox.

Christianity being the more level headed of the two Religions makes me question whether or not your a Muslim?

A true Atheist would choose Christianity hands down because it is the lesser of the two threats.

  • AaronBurhoe says:

Western culture, not just Europe, has given a special preference to Christianity. Faith schools, creation museums, tax breaks for evangelists, “under God” in school, “in God we trust” on our currency, national calls to prayer, etc. This is what Islam covets.

Furthermore, you’re forgetting the fact that God doesn’t exist.

  • OccidentalSoapbox says:

I disagree with you profoundly, and so does history. When Christianity was strong in Europe it successfully repelled Islam from Spain (1492) and Eastern Europe (1683). Today, when Islam is MUCH WEAKER on paper it is conquering a self-hating decadent post-Christian Europe. Leftist thought degrades Western culture and idolizes the “other.” That’s why Islam is making inroads, NOT because it seeks to be “like Christianity”. Christianity is laughed at in Europe; why would Islam covet such disgrace?

  • AaronBurhoe says:

Our indulgence of Christianity in the West is what has encouraged Islam to push its way into the West, seeking the same status.

Christianity is the problem, not the solution.
